C-betting and Barreling

C-betting Basics for 100bb (less c-betting than shorter stack sizes) Q87 1) The more stronger hands in our range + the more connected to the board + the more villain has missed the flop- we c-bet 100% (A57, J92, 223, K23, 622) 2) The less connected with our range + the more air in our range + the more villain connects with the board- we c-bet less around 50-80% (765, J75, A23rb, 345) 3) C-bet big with high equity hands C-bet small with low equity hands  4) Continue barreling on turns which improves our range and does not improve villain's range (A,K,Q,J- hands that hit our bluffs on the flop)- this is because villain's range from BB usually contains a lot of 85s, 68s etc. -this is because our c-betting range is Ax and Kx heavy- we maintain extremely aggressive on Ace or King turn (80-100% c-bet) 5) Shutting down on turns that improves villain's range (straight draw completes, third/second pair paired) 6) Barrel all cards that blocks villain's best top pairs (e.g. J hig...

MTTs Holdem Bible

The best players are the ones that can avoid the most marginal spots, avoiding the most negative EV plays and consistently making +EV plays PREFLOP -Open raising following the charts for 30bb, 20bb and 15bb (MTT Mastery) Power-Equilab's Range Factors to consider to open wider/tighter than the charts: Open wider: 1) Weak players behind + in the blinds 2) Whales/punters in any position behind 3) Big bounties behind 4) Big stacks playing at the bubble (ICM PRESSURE) Open tighter: 1) Regs behind + in the blinds 2) Loose/aggressive players on CO or BTN -vs players that are 3betting us alot, we need to have 4bet shoving range in order to fight back against their aggression Deeper stacked, we tend to favor more implied odd hands whereas shorter stacked we favor blockers and high card type hands Opening Sizes 1) If the blinds are very shortstacked >10bb - we want to raise 2.5x+ in order to prevent them from defending junk Blind vs Blind 40bb+ - we raise 4x 15-40bb- we ra...

MTT Mastery

Module 1) Studying Poker - Atleast 80/20 Play vs Study- playing let us know which spots are our weaknesses - WE SHOULD BE IMPROVING EVERY TIME WE PLAY -> if we are not learning and getting better then: could be too many tables or not focused enough - every time we make the right/wrong river calls we should study the spot to get better (learning while playing) - we do not have to be the 'perfect' player to be able to make money: do not need to be the perfect to play a lot: get the volume in! - Play thousands of tournaments per month, be aware of our mistakes so we can learn in game or tag them for later reviews How to Study Effectively - reviewing hand history + watch training videos + 1 on 1 coaching - ANY TIME WE ARE UNSURE OF A SPOT- TAG IT! (e.g. BU vs CO range- should I 3bet KJo here? or flat?) - we always need to take into account the player we are playing against in order to give them a range -> if we know exactly what someone is calling with 10bb BB v...

Max Value Rules

Preflop Rules 1) Open shoving 15bb or less: always use the charts 2) Reshoving/Calling Reshoves: use chart vs CO or later 3) Opening from all positions: use the opening range charts except: - having very aggro opponent in the blinds (open tighter) - ICM pressure (may play tighter or looser depending on your stack sizes) 4) Always open to 2x BB except SB vs BB where we open to 3.5x BB -deeper stacks (50bb or more) we can make it 2.5x or 3x 5) With less than 40bb stack, our 3bet value range is always JJ+/AKo at the minimum vs any opponent from any position 6) Never flat any hands except strong pocket pairs and premium suited broadways from all positions except BB, SB, BU and CO - follow the flat/3-bet charts Flop Rules 7) When heads-up and IP as the PFR: c-bet always with 30% pot with 100% of our hands - except when board favors opponent too much (AKs vs BB on 567ddd) 8) When OOP as PFR: c-bet any draws, strong top pairs or better check/call weak top pairs and...

MAX VALUE COURSE

Poker Maths Learn the approximate 10-50% opening range and what it looks like -if villain shows opening 63s from MP: we can assume they're opening 50% of hands thus we can use this information to exploit them Poker is about winning the most/losing the least with medium/weak hands Facing a 5bb all in preflop: total pot is 7.115bb (including antes) and we're in the BB -we need to call 4bb to win 11.115bb therefore we need roughly 34% -therefore we can call all in very wide In poker it is not about the immediate amount of money won, but rather the amount won added up in the long run. Our goal: to make the most positive EV plays as possible which will result in making more money in the long run Exploitative Approach (always play this) -putting opponents on precise ranges -adjusting play in game for max value -ability to fold big hands GTO Approach -only play this strategy vs unknowns that we do not have information on -play this especially with shortstacks ...

Reshoving Multiway vs LP

In general, villain's flatcalling range from CO/BU are weak, therefore we can exploit this by reshoving wider - we can include hands such as ATs or AJs while also re shoving premium hands such as AA, KK Always adjust to population tendencies - if we play vs a lot of fishes that flatcalls very wide, we can exploit by re-shoving more hands (30-40bb) -LP battles we very often reshove ALL suited broadways Re shove wider vs aggro players Re shove tighter vs very tight opponents- however as they're in LP we can still re shove quite wide

Squeezing Preflop

NEVER SQUEEZE IN SOFT GAMES (LOTS OF FISH as they're never folding preflop) -instead we INCREASE our VALUE RANGE (e.g. AJs, KQs) -> villain will often flat hands like Q8s, QTs whereas they will 4bet AA, AKs very often therefore we are never dominated when villain just flat calls Use stats to find out the best spots to over bluff preflop Look at villain's RFI + COLD CALL stats -if villain is loose RFI and coldcall a lot of hands, we can increase our value range tremendously -vs tighter RFI range, we reduce our bluffing range Look at villain's VPIP/PFR gap -if the gap is high, we can assume villain is flatting too many hands and we can squeeze bluff more profitably (8-10% gap) -if the gap is TOO WIDE- >10% gap (fish, we never bluff squeeze!), rather we increase our value range (99+, KJs+ ATs+ AJo+) we choose this to be our value 3bet range as villain will be flatting way too many suited Kx, Qx and Jx hands which we dominate THE HIGHER THE VILLAIN'S VP...
