C-betting and Barreling

C-betting Basics for 100bb (less c-betting than shorter stack sizes)

Q87

1) The more stronger hands in our range + the more connected to the board + the more villain has missed the flop- we c-bet 100% (A57, J92, 223, K23, 622)

2) The less connected with our range + the more air in our range + the more villain connects with the board- we c-bet less around 50-80% (765, J75, A23rb, 345)

3) C-bet big with high equity hands

C-bet small with low equity hands

4) Continue barreling on turns which improves our range and does not improve villain's range (A,K,Q,J- hands that hit our bluffs on the flop)- this is because villain's range from BB usually contains a lot of 85s, 68s etc.

-this is because our c-betting range is Ax and Kx heavy- we maintain extremely aggressive on Ace or King turn (80-100% c-bet)

5) Shutting down on turns that improves villain's range (straight draw completes, third/second pair paired)

6) Barrel all cards that blocks villain's best top pairs (e.g. J high hands blocking QJo etc.) + barrel draws on the turn

e.g. on Q87,K -if we block AQ and QJ we want to barrel Ax and Jx very aggressively

TURN

Q87-(K or 2)

1) High cards that improves our range and does not improve villain's range = go BANANAS

2) Cards that improves our draws but does not improve villain's draws (e.g. villain may have 85s while we have JTs)

3) Blank turn cards = be more careful with our bluffs as villain's calling range will often be the same as the flop

-Barrel all draws + best blockers to villain's top pair with no show down value (e.g. J5s on Q76,K)

-> barrel K3-K6 (blocking KQ) where we "bomb our outs clean" by folding out better K high

-> barrel A6-A3 (blocking AQ) where we are folding out better A highs

-> check our strongest A and K highs (AJ/KJ/AK/KT/AT) but we can also barrel those hands if need be

-Bet sizing becomes bigger where we do not bet just 1/3

RIVER

Bluffing on BLANKS- generally be very careful!-

1)  In general, villain will arrive on the river with more strong hands than GTO

2) We only want to bluff with "premium bluffs" (hands that block villain's best top pairs)

-also hands that has 0 EV and does not block any of villain's draws (43s on Q76,K,5)

-> here we can also just bet 1/3 as we are targeting better busted draws

3) We want to bluff on overcard rivers such as A or K (cards that improves our bluffs on the flop and turn)

4) We want to shut down with our bluffs on blank turns and rivers as we have many perceived draws that missed (e.g. Q76,2,3 -here we want to check all our bluffs as villain will be very sticky)

-we also want to slowdown on turns and rivers that pairs the board where it can improve villain's range drastically

5) We are never trying to make villain fold top pair on blank run outs thus we only bluff with SMALL SIZINGS and OVERBET for VALUE

-overall we want to give up all our bluffs on blank runouts! (except for hands that has 0 showdown value then we bet very small to fold out better draws)

Bluffing on overcards/cards that improves our draws

1) We want to remain very aggressive when the river card hit our range (mirror this on both TURNS and RIVERS)- so overcards or when our draws hit

2) Whenever we reach the river and realize that most of our bluffs improve- we want to remain very aggressive with EVERY bluffs we have (villain will often have 2nd or 3rd pair)

C-betting basics for 40bb (more c-betting than 100bb)

FLOP

Q87

1) We can still c-bet our entire range for small sizings

-if villain just flats we can deduct KQx and sets from his range as they are often raising

-in theory at 40bb, we are supposed to be raising Qx from BB vs cbet for value

TURN- we are more aggressive the shorter we are (on overcards)

Q87-K

1) With overcard on the turn, we remain very aggressive!

2) We still want to have a reasonable checking back range with hands that has showdown value

-we also want to check back some of the weaker draws (lower draws that has no overcards)

Comparing Boards

[622] 100bb vs 30bb

FLOP

From BB, we want to be raising more at 30bb than 100bb where we are raising any 6 and 2 on the flop + some bluffs with backdoor draws (only vs high c-bet% opponents)

-we want to be raising very wide on this board vs aggro c-bets

TURN

1) On any turns (except a 6) we want to remain very aggressive on this board as we still have all the nutted hands while villain does not

IN POKER WE OFTEN WANT TO:

OVERBLUFF TURN

UNDERBLUFF RIVER

ALWAYS LOOK AT VILLAIN'S SHOWDOWN HANDS AND DETERMINE WHAT PLAYER TYPE THEY ARE
