Postflop OOP as PFA

We want to bluff catch on turn and river when pot is SMALL

Always think of poker from preflop to river as a funnel: We only defend stronger hands moving from flop to river

When to cbet OOP?
-when we have the highest range advantage
->the more our opponent is capped or the wider they're flatting
-> (capped such as BU flat vs CO open)
-SB vs BB = 70%-90% cbet frequency

MP vs HJ/CO flat
-both ranges are relatively strong therefore we have to cbet tighter
-we only choose to bet the overpairs, our strongest bluffs and (some) middle pair with backdoor draws
[we may want to check our AK hand to pot control and protect our equity vs a raise- this will keep the pot small so we can see 5 cards]

The deeper we are, the bigger we want to bet on the flop
*but always think about what parts in villain's range we want to attack*

General rule for Check/calling
-hands with showdown value
-draws where we do not want to build a big pot
-protect your hand/equity from getting raised out of the pot
-weak value hands with only 2 streets of value

Types of bet
1) Value bet
2) Bluff bet:
-pure bluff bet (one and done)-> high fold equity and low raw equity
-semi bluff bet -> low-mid fold equity and high raw equity
3) Protection bet
-denying equity vs hands that have outs against us
(more important multiway and IP)
4) Universal bet
-value/protection/bluff
(we bet IP and check/call OOP)

Facing raises
In general: STRONG
-especially when your range consists of many strong hands
-the wider their ranges (late position especially) the more bluffs are possible
-the bigger the raise, the more we fold
-PEOPLE ARE NOT BLUFFING AS MUCH AS THEY SHOULD (POPULATION)
-play straightforward for value

When to check/raise OOP
-villain's calling range is the same with his betting range
-> BUT, we get more value from his draws and bluffs
therefore *we bet polarized range*
-hands that can go 3 streets for value
+ hands that can continue on many turns
[hands that can TURN more equity (eg. backdoor FD and backdoor straight draws)]
->when the turn doesn't improve our equity, we check/fold.
-we check raise more when villain's bet in position % is very high

We can check/raise when we know our opponent's betting range is wide
-> if we think villain is betting middle pair IP, we can check raise AK on T high board to make him fold lower pairs and barrel many turns.

Playing Turns

Bluff barrelling
-> always give up a fraction of your range!! [FUNNEL] (~33%)
[we bluff the flop, the turn favours our opponent]
-> we give up the weakest bluffs in our range (also use blockers effect)
-> we may use hands between the middle and the bottom of our range to bluff

*the more equity we have against villain's range, the less fold equity we need*
*the less equity we have against villain's range, the more fold equity we need*

When to check/call
-we want to mix some value hands in our checking range
[especially when there are many floats possible in our range]
-do not be scared to get bluff as population do not bluff enough (except some player types)

*vs passive fish/weak regs- we keep betting all our value hands*
-no need to balance our range as they're not thinking at that level

When to check/raise turn
-VERY POLARIZED
[bluff + hand that can play for stacks]

Bluff: (only vs players that can fold)
-when we block villain's nutted range
-always look at stack-to-pot ratio where we need to have fold equity on the river
-we can raise vs very small bets on the turn
-we can bluff raise when villain's range is capped
-do not check/jam turn if villain has many top pairs in his range (need to have many snapfolds)
[never bluff vs donkeys or bad regs]

Scenario:
We bet 99 on T63 board for protection, BU calls
-villain's range: [top pair, A high floats, middle pair, 88,77,55 and sets]
Turn: 8
-we now have a gutshot-> here we can opt to check raise in order to make villain fold his top pair
-> we block 97s from 4 combos to just 2 combos  therefore we can bluff profitably
-> we can also use hands such as A6s or A3s to check/raise as we're blocking his sets

Value: (very rarely)
-very strong value hands or if we want to get the stacks in
[we usually want to bet ourselves if the villain is unknown]
-eg. if we have one card straight, we want to be betting ourselves to get value from two pairs
[if we block their FD, it makes opponent less likely to have a draw so we bet ourselves]

Playing Rivers

CONNECT THE DOTS
-> from PREFLOP to RIVER
[Train besides the tables]- use Equilab to do analyzes

Against what hand do you want to value bet?
-many strong value hands: we bet BIG
-few strong hands- mostly middle pairs: we bet SMALLER

Bluff barrelling:
-do not feel committed!

Requirements for a river bluff:
-we block villain's value range
-good river card for our range
-villain has many snap folds
[only when villain is not a donk/fish/bad regs]
[on very soft tables we avoid marginal bluffs]

*NEVER TRY TO BLUFF PEOPLE OFF TOP PAIRS* [most people are not good enough to fold]
-always plan ahead what part in villain's range do you want to attack?
-> if we want to attack A high, better draws and 2nd/3rd pair
[we bet smaller sizing]
-> if we are going for a big bluff vs very good hand
[we bet VERY BIG]

When to check/raise for value
-avoid check/raise as a bluff
[we're not repping that many hands]

Value check/raise
-when the river card hits villain's range
[we usually want to bet ourselves on the river]

When to check/call
-we check/call our bluffcatchers
[when villain's range contains many draws]
[check hands that don't block villain's bluffing range]- our range on the river should have hands that do not block some of the bluffs (eg. we do not want to have the FD suit in our hand)
*use blocker effects and check the hands that do not block the busted FD*
*bet the hands that blocks the FD* (villain has less bluffs and more worst value hands)

From Practical hands
-if the stack-to-pot ratio is quitelow and we have 2nd pair vs a broadway high range
->we have be tempted to bet for protection
[however, all draws will call us anyway and if an overcard hits the turn-> we will not know what to do] - therefore we rather check and pot control
-> we should divide our range into what hands we will call vs a bet
- we might call our second pair no kicker on the flop -> but we will fold it on the turn
-we keep checking till the river to pot control
[if the runout is very clean and we beat many draws: we're never folding]
-vs a fish, we should bet our second pair on the turn for value if they check back the flop

66 on 499 vs CO and HJ flat
-> we should always bet 1/3 to protect our hand
Turn: 6
-here we want to check as anyone with trips would keep betting anyway
->also if we bet it is a sign of strength and will get too many folds
-on the river multiway when we have the nuts, we may look to get value from middling type hands by betting very small-> this also induces the good hands to raise over our bet

Hero raise 88 from MP, BU and BB calls
Flop: 5K3
-we want to bet our 88 as we have a range advantage + we can get value from 5x
[if anyone calls, we just give up with the hand]

Hero raise TT multiway CO, BU
Flop: K89
Hero: small bet in order to protect our hand + we're calling a bet anyway so it makes sense
-also get value from 9x and 8x
-> we can also turn our hand into a bluff in later streets [Q or J peels]

Tips
We have to cbet at a less frequency when CO or BU flats vs BB or SB flats
We can cbet at a higher frequency on low boards than on broadway heavy boards
We want to check more and try to keep the pot small
We do not want to go in bluff catcher mode when the pot is big therefore we always keep it small with our middling type hands
